Title/Link: Kindred Spirits
Creator: [archiveofourown.org profile] Brightknightie
Fandom: Forever Knight
Characters: Urs, Nick Knight, Ellen-Monika-Jacqueline, Lucien Lacroix, Natalie Lambert, Sofia Jurgen, Enforcers
Rating: T
Word count: 12,896
Summary: When Ellen-Monika-Jacqueline turns to Urs for help, Urs brings her to Nick. "Either one would help me, I guess. Lucien for a price. Javier... always does, eventually. And there are others. But unlike them, you'll help her, just because she needs help."

Notes: A longer fic based on the intriguing episode Hearts of Darkness, and one of my favorite episode tie-in fics of all time. Ellen-Monika-Jacqueline is equally intriguing and only appears in this one episode.

I took this prompt pretty literally and thought of Grace Balthazar, a minor character who appeared in a handful of season 1 and 2 episodes of Forever Knight. There are several stories out there that include Grace, but I'm reccing two that actually focus on her character and which I really like.

Fandom: Forever Knight
Character: Grace Balthazar
Prompt: grace
Word Count: 100
Content Note: canonical character death
Summary: After "Last Knight", Grace faces a most unwanted responsibility.

Reccer's Notes: a devastating series finale drabble.

Reccer's Notes: post-series canon divergence. Not pretty, but a beautifully written, lovely story of friendship.

I had fully intended to create some new stuff but alas that was not to be. Instead I offer a few of my female centric fics.

Rogue Vampire
[Forever Knight, Janette, Alyce Hunter, 2941 words]
an unlikely fledgling vampire requires Janette's immediate attention

Man Bites Dog
[Smallville, Lois Lane, 976 words]
one fantastical headline, a grouchy editor, and an aspiring journalist all in one room.

Cutthroat Business
[Forever Knight, Janette, 834 words]
An unconventional evening for a Toronto realtor and his mysterious client. Origin story for a certain Toronto club.

Crackerjack
[The Border, Maggie Norton, 624 words]
"Her interrogation skills are legendary; she once reduced a vicious serial killer to a sobbing six year old, begging her forgiveness."

Nacida y criada
[The X-Files, Monica Reyes, 968 words]
Mexico was always home. It called to her.

I don't usually rec my own stories, but I wanted to contribute something to this awesome challenge and I only discovered it today! If I'm lucky, I'll be able to write something new and squeeze it in before tomorrow, but just in case I can't, these are a few of the fics I've written that are female-centric.

Some femslash, some not; some old, some from the last few days :)

Reflections (Commander in Chief, Jayne-centric)
Your inner child wants to cry and protest the actions you've taken and the people you side with, but your older self has long since locked down your allegiances. 819 words.

-

Inevitable (Firefly, Inara/Nandi)
Nandi smiles in a way that doesn't reach her eyes and lays her fingertips against Inara's cheek. Nandi's touch still makes her skin tingle and Inara steps forward to close the distance between them, her hands resting at Nandi's waist. 2,421 words.

-

Unfinished Business (Forever Knight; Natalie, Janette)
Janette places her glass on the table and moves to sit next to Natalie on the couch. It was Natalie's choice to hide her transformation from them but Janette knows from experience that never-ending life can get boring without companionship, and this woman has always intrigued her. 1,000 words.

Hiding Out At The Raven (Forever Knight; Natalie, Janette)
Natalie gives her a thoroughly exasperated look, which Janette counters with her best imitation of an innocent smile, sipping her blood wine and waiting patiently. 3,202 words.

-

People Only See What They Expect (Harry Potter, Lily/Narcissa *NC-17*)
They aren't good for each other, she and Lily; or rather, Lily's good for her, she's just not so good for Lily. Before her, Lily was the embodiment of red and gold, but now the colours don't suit her -- clash where before they blended -- and yet she isn't anywhere near cold enough, or dark enough, for green and silver. 2,197 words.

-

Figuring Out A Path (Hex, Thelma/Cassie, Thelma/Ella)
Ella talks about resurrecting Cassie as though it'll have no impact on either of your lives. As if she doesn't understand what kind of position it automatically puts you in, even though you know that she does; that she must do, has to. 1,372 words.

-

Appearances Are Deceiving (Will & Grace, Grace/Karen)
Appearances can be deceiving, and no one understands this better than Karen, who's been deceiving people for longer than she can remember. That 'as long as she can remember' only goes as far back as yesterday has something to do with that, but even if she could remember last week clearly, it wouldn't change her basic belief that she's still right. 1,000 words.

Something Like That (Will & Grace, Karen-centric)
Karen would love to pretend she doesn't remember what her childhood was like but, despite the drugs and alcohol, those memories remain persistently clear. 1,728 words.

disclaimer: They're not mine.
rating: PG for some language, innuendo and mentioned violence.
fandoms: NCIS, Stargates, Buffyverse, Criminal Intent, Touching Evil UK, Bones, Second Sight, Torchwood, Smallville, Dresden Files (tv series), The X-Files, Forever Knight, CSI, Without a Trace. (I think that's everyone)
notes: This was written prior to the end of season five of NCIS, certain portions of season 4 of Stargate: Atlantis, the end of season two of Torchwood, mid-season eight of Buffy, with hazy knowledge of seasons past three of Angel, and mid-season seven of Criminal Intent. (some of the others aren't even in production anymore)
As such, there are spoilers for probably every single one of these, some lesser spoilers than others.
So. I've always had a thing for this sort of thing. And I'm very well aware how very wish fulfillment it is. I don't care.
I figured, after those two lovely multi-fandom vids, I was at least somewhat safe to post this.
This is a direct sequel/expansion of this ficlet written ages ago
