Half a Moon: 14 Days of Celebrating Women

Mambo Italiano by charmax (Sydney Bristow, Alias) -- I have a weakness for iconic Sydney vids that feature her kicking ass in all her different outfits, and this vid brilliantly displays the eye candy elements of the show--but Charmax also succeeds in showing that this is a dance, and Syd is dancing here in every move she makes. Visually fabulous and sexy!

C’mon C’mon by sol_se (Sydney Bristow, Alias) -- What I find interesting about watching "C’mon C’mon" back-to-back with "Mambo Italiano" and Killa’s (now sadly offline) "This Girl Is Taking Bets" is the way it’s possible to have a vid that shares many of the same action-y intercut clips, and yet end up with a much angstier, more emotional journey exploring Sydney’s relationships and interior life.

Save Yourself by txlsplash (Lauren Reed, Alias) -- The anti-heroine. I think this vid really works as a character study even if you’ve never seen the show, but to say Lauren was an underappreciated character would be putting it mildly; I loved her and wish they had kept her around longer and done more to develop her potential, and "Save Yourself" perfectly illustrates why.

She Wants To Move (Dana Scully, X-Files) by astartexx -- I can’t even think of anything to say other than that I will never stop being speechless at the hotness of Scully.

Are You Gonna Be My Girl? by JS&AAR (Aeryn Sun, Farscape) -- It’s been pointed out to me that this is a John Crichton POV about Aeryn and how he sees her, and my response was, well, that's the whole point: he’s in love with her, and after watching this vid, who wouldn't be?

One Step Closer by tallulah71 (Ripley, Alien I-IV) -- Ellen Ripley is one of the great action heroines of all time. (And while you're there, check out Katheryn's multifandom vid Bionic.)

Invincible by halcyon_shift (Fiona Glenanne, Burn Notice) -- I’m just going to steal her summary: "Fi/Awesome Fi/Michael. It's like a love triangle, really."

Sick by winterevanesce (Alice, Resident Evil) -- Cool, gorgeous, creepy horror, with great use of effects (I found the overlaid texture particularly interesting, although I feel like it might be distracting for some people--that and some of the transitions).

These Boots Are Made For Walkin' by dualbunny (Samantha Caine/Charlie Baltimore, The Long Kiss Goodnight) -- Spoilery for the movie--and why aren’t there more vids for this movie? This one was made for vid karaoke so it has an even more special place in my heart, plus you really can’t go wrong with Geena Davis as an amnesiac assassin. (P.S. I am not starting with Kara Thrace right now because I could do a whole post of BSG recs alone, but if anyone has somehow missed them Dualbunny’s vids God Is A DJ and Cuz I Can are two of the best Starbuck vids ever.)

Steady As She Goes by kuwdora (Toshiko Sato, Torchwood) -- Okay, so maybe I wouldn’t ordinarily classify Tosh as an action heroine, but hey, she is holding a gun in one of these clips, and she kicks a guy in the crotch in another! Whatever, she is made of win and I have been watching this vid nonstop for the past two weeks.

James Bonde by talitha78 (Kara, Smallville) -- I am not caught up the show this season so I am way behind on what they're actually doing with the character, but Talitha + Supergirl = shiny, fun action vid!
